Open Question: Freelance interpreting advice?

When I finish school I plan on going to university and after I get a degree, traveling indefinitely. I'm currently learning German and plan on learning Afrikaans and Italian at least. I'm going to go to Germany in my gap year to nanny for about 8 months to help my German and to experience. So I suppose my question is more: -Which degree should I get at university to increase my opportunities for work? -Which would be the best languages to learn - most in demand and things. -Any other advice at all or opinions....
