Resolved Question: Nervous first time flyer and connecting international flights?

Okay, so in October I'll be flying from Texas to Nuremberg, Germany to visit a friend for 2 weeks. And there's obviously no way I'll be getting there non stop. I'll have to fly from Austin to Houston or DFW (the closest airports with international flights) and from there I will either have a connecting flight somewhere in the USA or a European airport like Munich. Any words of advice? I'll be traveling with only a small carry on bag by the way. I'm so afraid I will miss a flight and be stuck somewhere far from home.
